Cybersecurity Webinar Recording

On September 21, 2023, NJBAC hosted, “Small Business, Big Threats: Together for a Cyber Resilient Tomorrow,” an informative and educational webinar focused on helping small businesses understand the importance of cybersecurity planning. Facilitated by Meshach Walker, Cybersecurity and Election Security Coordinator at the Division of Elections, the webinar touched on phishing/smishing, ransomware and business email compromise.

Minimum Wage Increase

On January 1, 2024, the New Jersey statewide minimum wage will increase by $1 to $15.13 for most employees. This increase exceeds the goal of Governor Murphy’s 2019 legislation to raise the minimum wage to at least $15.00 by 2024 for New Jersey employees.

Cannabis Corner

On September 27, 2023, the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission began accepting applications for wholesale, manufacturing and delivery cannabis licenses. Through December 26, 2023, only social equity business applications are being accepted. Diversely owned businesses can submit applications as of December 27, 2023. The application process opens for all other applicants on March 27, 2024.

Diversity Finance Board Established

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) recently announced the establishment of the Diversity Finance Advisory Board (DFAB), which will work to increase access to institutional capital for women- and minority-owned startups. The board will provide knowledge, guidance and insight on ways to best increase capital, access and investments for New Jersey’s diverse entrepreneurs.
